Important Guidelines During Coronavirus
  • All tourists coming to Uttarakhand have to register themselves on the Smart City Web Portal ( http://smartcitydehradun.uk.gov.in/ ) prior to their travel.
  • Always carry a Hand sanitizer, Face mask, Hand gloves and practice social distancing. Avoid touching your face, nose, eyes and mouth as much as possible.
  • People aged above 60 years, pregnant women and children younger than 12 years old have been advised to stay home.
  • Participants will have to adhere to strict health protocols, including temperature checks, wearing a mask at all times and maintaining social distance.

Overview

One of the best places in India to enjoy the beauty of the mighty Hiamalayas. Pindari Galcier is located in the Bageshwar distict in Kumaon region state of Uttarakhand. For those who want to try their hand at adventure, this is the right place to do it. Best thing about this trek is the terrain is without litter and crowds. Traversing through thick forests with Pine, Rhododendron and Oak trees also you can enjoy crossing revulets along the way. The trail to the glacier takes you through a string of picturesque villages, Khati is the last inhabited village on the trail. Waterfalls, hanging valleys and jagged cliffs greet you at zero point where the trek ends.

Itinerary

Day 01:Kathgodam to kharkiya (7,200 feet) 

Pick up from Kathgodam railway station early morning 6.30am, and we will start our journey towards Kharkiya which is our first basecamp. Total road distance is 200km approx and it will take 8/9 hrs. The beautiful and scenic routes will be taking us through Bheemtal, Almora, Bageshwar Kapkot. These are the only places where you can find an ATM during your journey. We will stop the vehicle for Breakfast and Lunch on the way. At Kharkiya, accommodation will be in the homestay. Once we reach at the place, we will have a briefing and introduction round. After dinner, rest time at homestay.

Day 02 kharkiya/dhoor then to Khati (7,355 feet)

Our breakfast will start at 8am. After having breakfast, we will start our trek to Khati. Today’s trek is short and will take 3/4hrs to reach our camp. Kharkia is the last village on this road, and some parts of this area you can find BSNL network. Gradual zig-zag route through beautiful landscape of Oak and Rhododendron forest. Our lunch will be at Khati campsite. Khati camp is the ideal place for trekkers, from here you see peaks like Nandakot, Nandabaner many more. Khati is the last inhabited village on the way to Pindari glacier. Dinner will be served at campsite, Overnight stay in Tents on sharing basis.

Day 03:Khati to Dwali (2575 Mts/8498 Ft)(12 km trek) 

Today after breakfast we will start our trek to Dwali. Total distance we will be walking today is 12/13km and it will take 5/6hrs depending on your pace. On the way you will be visiting numerous water streams. Today’s walk is uphill, there are few ascends and descends patches where you have to cross carefully. After crossing the major ascends, we will take a break for pack lunch, trek is tiring but you can see the Pindari river flowing next to the trail. After 5/6 hrs of trek we will reach our camp site where you will get tea and snacks. After having dinner, retire for the day. Overnight stay in tents on sharing basis.

Day 04:Dwali - Phurkiya (10400 Ft)(5 kms trek) 

Today’s trek is short, you will be walking 5km distance and it will take 3/4hrs time, after having breakfast. Water will be available through the trail. Also one can see the green, rocky and serene landscape. The path gradually led to steep unfriendly slopes will be welcoming you.  On the way if the sky is clear you can see snow covered mountains like Nanda Devi East and Nanda Khat peak standing in front of you, also you can see the Pindari river flowing below. This camp is peaceful and undisturbed and also allows supernatural beings, you have time to explore surroundings camp. Later in the night dinner will be served. Overnight stay in tents on sharing basis.

Day 05:Phurkyia to Pindari Glacier ( zero point )- Phurkiya - Dwali (3900 Mts/12800 Ft)(20 kms trek) .

Our day starts early in the morning because we will be visiting zero point which is the highest point of this trek. Today’s trek requires your physical and mental preparation, because you will be walking on ice and snow. Along the way you passed massive waterfalls, bubbling pools, towering rock faces that have looked down on passing trekkers over thousands of years using the same ancient paths. Once you reach the ridge you are able to see the entire Pindari glacier valley. The view from here is absolutely breath-taking, with the shadow of the clouds making patterns on the surface of the earth. The path is steep and slippery at few places so you have to walk cautiously. Ideally it will take 3/4hrs time to reach zero point and then again, you will retrace the same trail back to Dwali. This trek and your hard work you will remember for a lifetime! Overnight stay in tents.

​Day 06:Dwali - to Khati(11kms trek) 

After having breakfast, we start back our journey to Khati, which will take 5/6hrs time. The entire walk is downhill through the forest and meadows. On the way we will stop for lunch break, again we will start getting down towards Khati camp. After reaching the camp hot tea and snacks will be there. Overnight stay in tents on sharing basis

Day 07:Khati to Kharkiya (5 kms trek) then campsite at dol 

This will be your last day of the trek. After having breakfast we start getting down towards Kahrkiya village. Today you will walk 5km which will take 4hrs time. We will provide pack lunch on the way. At Kharkia we will arrange the vehicle to reach our fixed camp/ Homestay. Overnight stay in homestay.

​Day 08 : Dol campsite to Kathgodam (4/5 hrs Drive)

Morning after breakfast depart from Campsite to Kathgodam railway station. This drive will take 4/5 hrs time. You are expected to reach Kathgodam at 2/3pm, so plan your day accordingly. We will arrange the vehicle drive to Kathgodam railway station from our campsite.

Note:

  • Two photos with ID proof original is required for Inner Line Permit.

  • Itinerary can be changed, in case of snow, rainfall and landslides.

  • On day 6 you will reach Rishikesh between 7 to 7.30pm, you can book your travel plan any time after 8pm.

  • Foreign National there is an additional permission charges, different amount should be paid by the participant on spot.

  • On day 8 you will reach Srinagar between 5 to 6pm, you can book your travel plan any time after 8pm

Things to carry
  • Ruck Sack : Compulsory to carry strong and steady rucksack, Between 55 to 60 Litre
  • Ruck sack cover : Protect your things from quick rain or snowfall
  • Day Pack : Optional, carry only if you are planning to offload your bigger bag. If you are offloading your bigger backpack then you have to carry your personal valuable things, water bottles, pack lunch, raincoat/poncho etc.
  • Trekking Shoes: Good quality rubber soul shoes with ankle support is advisable. Please make sure that shoes are well use before trek. Note: Sports shoes are not recommended but you can carry as additional back up shoes.
  • T-shirts: As per your need, carry at least one quick dry type, avoid too bright/dark colours T-shirts. Cotton T-shirts avoid especially while walking. Full sleeves T-shirts are recommended.
  • Track Pants: As per your need, one synthetic quick dry type track pant is highly recommended.
  • Warm Jacket: Highly recommended, one thick fleece jacket/ Down feather jacket is must to carry. You can use this when you cool down at camp.
  • Windproof Jacket/ Windcheater: We advised to carry, it is resisting wind chill/snowfall and quick burst of light rain.
  • Thermal Wear: You can use this once you reach at campsite. Thermal keep your body warm especially during harsh winter temperatures.
  • Towel: One medium size light weight towel quick dry type
  • Raincoat/ Poncho: Raincoat/ ponchos is a water-resistance to protect the body from rain.
  • Woollen Cap / Balaclava: Mandatory to carry woollen cap or balaclava to protect from cold.
  • Sun cap / Hat: To protect you from direct sunlight
  • Undergarments: As per your need.
  • Socks: Hiking socks has ability wick moisture and keep feet dry. Full length socks are advisable.
  • Hand Gloves: Compulsory to carry, few gloves are constructed of water resistant or waterproof material that keep your fingers dry.
  • Walking stick / Trekking pole: Trekking pole provide useful literal stability on rough terrain and give balance while descending also reduce pressure on knee.
  • Water Bottle/ Hydration pack: Compulsory to carry, please do not carry packaged drinking water bottles.
  • Sunglasses: Compulsory to carry. It is protecting from snow blindness. Person who use spectacle need to carry custom make powered sunglasses.
  • Head Torch / Torch: It is mandatory to carry with extra batteries. Head torch is advisable to keep your hands free while walking.
  • Sunscreen Lotion: Optional, advisable to carry sunscreen lotion (SPF 50+ and more)
  • Chapstick/ Cold cream: Optional, As per your need
  • Toilet Kit Must to carry, Personal toilet kit (toilet paper)
  • Sandals / Slippers: Optional, to walk around camp
  • Small Lunch Box & Tea mug: Compulsory, sometimes we give pack lunch so you can carry pack lunch items in it (one small leak proof lunch box is the best one), also carry one tea mug/glass
  • Dry Fruits / Energy Bars: We provide healthy adequate food on trip. Some do feel very less energetic compare to others, so you carry energy bars, dry fruits etc.
  • Repairs Kit: Must, one small repair kit which includes safety pins, needle, thread and string
  • Personal Medical Kit: Must to carry small basic first aid. If you are taking any specific medicine from your doctor please inform us in advance. There will be a basic first kit will be available throughout the trek. Our Instructor has done a first aid course.
  • Camera: Optional, to capture your lifetime memories.
