  • All tourists coming to Uttarakhand have to register themselves on the Smart City Web Portal ( ) prior to their travel.
  • Always carry a Hand sanitizer, Face mask, Hand gloves and practice social distancing. Avoid touching your face, nose, eyes and mouth as much as possible.
  • People aged above 60 years, pregnant women and children younger than 12 years old have been advised to stay home.
  • Participants will have to adhere to strict health protocols, including temperature checks, wearing a mask at all times and maintaining social distance.

Kuari Pass is located near Joshimath in Chamoli district at a height of 12700 ft. This is one of the best trekking destination near Auli. Kuari pass offers glorious view of the eastern peaks of Garhwal Himalayas. Since the Indian viceroy Lord Curzon had once trekked up to Kuari pass, the route is known as the Curzon Trail. From the top you can see greater Himalayan range clearly, the peaks visible from Kuari pass are Nanda Devi, Doonagiri, Bethartoli and Devarthan. Trekking on high altitude meadows and camping among the flowers, under the stars is a lifetime experience. The forests composed of fir, rhododendron and birch are found up to 3300m, after which vegetation gradually moves from alpine to grasses and herbs. It is home to several mammals, Himalayan musk deer and bharal, over a hundred bird species are found here. The surprising scenic beauty makes Kuari Pass a visual delight.

How to Reach:

By Air: -

Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun. Airport is just 25 km from the main city. There is daily direct flight from Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi to Dehradun.

By Train: -

Take night train from Delhi to reach Haridwar

·         Nandadevi Express - Train no: 12205 (Departure 11:50pm; Arrival - 5:40am)

·         Delhi – DDN Hazrat Nizamuddin AC Express Train no: 2205 (Departure 11.55pm, Arrival – 4:00am)

·         Dehradun Express - Train no: 12687 (Departure - 9:10pm; Arrival - 5:00am)

By Bus: -

There is frequent regular buses from Delhi ISBT Kashmere Gate.

We would suggest you to take only government buses from ISBT Kashmere Gate.

Usually buses drop you at Haridwar Bus Depot. (besides Haridwar railway station)

Tata Sumo or similar vehicles will pick-up you from Haridwar Railway Station at 6:00am to 6.30am.


Day - 1: Haridwar to Joshimath, Distance: 250km, Altitude – 6720ft, Approx10hrs Drive.

Reporting at Haridwar railway station at 6.30am, to be on the safe side, you can reach Haridwar the previous night. Drive from Haridwar to Joshimath is very scenic and an adventurous journey which takes about 9/10 hrs. On the way driver will stop the vehicle for self-sponsored Breakfast and Lunch, you need a full day for this as it is a longboard journey. During your travel journey the view is breath-taking. Our trek leader will meet you at Joshimath, evening you will receive a briefing about the entire trek. The route we will take is Haridwar-Rishikesh-Devprayag-Srinagar-Rudraprayag-Karnprayag.

Overnight stay in Guest house at Joshimath.

Day - 2: Joshimath  to Gulling Top, Altitude 9500 ft, Distance: 12 km, 5/6 hrs trek.

Your day will start after having breakfast. You will drive 15 km from Joshimath to Dhak Village which is your starting point of the trek via Auli. The trail is clearly visible through villages, after half an hour of walking, steep gradual ascends will start. You can fill up your water bottles near villages before starting the steep ascends. Today you can see amazing snow cap peaks like Dronagiri, Hathi Parvat, Gori Parvat. Afternoon around 2/3 pm you will be reaching the Tali camp. Explore the surrounding camp and retire for the day. Overnight stay in tents.

Day - 3 Gulling Top to Tali Camp, Altitude 11000 ft, Distance: 4 km, 4/5 hrs trek.

Today trekking distance is only 4 km and ideally it will take 4/5 hrs time if you are able to walk slow to medium speed. The route is through a thick forest of Oak, Rhododendron and Walnut trees surroundings. On the way there is one forest Hut and that will be your last water point, also rest point as well so you can refill your water bottles here. Last 2 km to Tali Top is a steep ascend and it tests your fitness physically and mentally, keep the pace steady. On the trail you can watch and hear lots of different birds, beautiful cascades and flowers as well. On the top there is small lake called Tali Lake.Today you can see peaks like Nanda Devi, Hathi Parvat, Dronagiri Gori Parvat. Overnight stay in tents.

Day - 4 Tali Camp to Kuari Pass and back via Khullara Top, Altitude 12,550 ft, Distance: 15 km, 9/10 hrs trek.

Today is a crucial day as you will be going to summit Kuari Pass which is our final destination of this trek. We start early morning as we know that today is a long journey, a long walk and it will check your physical and mental preparedness. Carry enough water with you because there is no water point on the way.  Initially from camp to Khullara, top path is an easy to moderate level walk, on the way you can see one broken bridge and icy cold water is flowing. From here a steeper ascend will come which will take 1 hr, after that your final destination will come. Once you reach Kuari pass, you will realize that all the pain was worth taking, to be where you are!

                    From top you can see, the close up view of Kedarnath Peak, Neel kanth, Chaukhamba, Nanda Devi, Hathi Parvat, Dronagiri Parvat, Kedardome, Mukut Parvat etc. After exploring the place and spending a couple of hours we will start our return journey towards Tali camp. Overnight stay in tents.

Day - 5 Tali Camp to Joshimath 6700 ft via Gurson Bugyal ( 11100 ft), Distance: 8 km, 6/7 hrs trek and 15 km Drive.

Your day will start after breakfast, today is your last day of trekking. You start the trek towards Gurson Bugyal, you pass through changing scenery as you go down till Gurson meadow. During winter December to March this entire grassland is carpeted with snow and temperature varies unexpectedly at higher altitudes. Traversing through thick forest with Pine trees, Oak trees and Rhododendron trees loaded with red and pink flowers. After taking few rest points you will reach Auli. From here we take a cab to reach Joshimath, it is an hour drive. Overnight stay in Guest house.

Day – 6 Joshimath to Haridwar, Distance: 250km, Approx10hrs Drive.

You can start early in the morning after having tea so that you can reach Rishikesh/Haridwar 6pm. We advise you to keep one extra day in your plan so that you can avoid missing flights or trains. We will arrange the vehicle (on request) to reach Haridwar/Rishikesh and vehicle charges payable in cash to the driver directly.

Things to carry

Ruck Sack: Compulsory to carry strong and steady rucksack, Between 55 to 60 Litre

Ruck sack cover: Protect your things from quick rain or snowfall

Day Pack: Optional, carry only if you are planning to offload your bigger bag. If you are offloading your bigger backpack, then you have to carry your personal valuable things, water bottles, pack lunch, raincoat/poncho etc.

Trekking Shoes: Good quality, rubber soul shoes with ankle support is advisable. Please make sure that shoes are well used before trek.
Note: Sports shoes are not recommended but you can carry as additional back up shoes.

T-shirts: As per your need, carry at least one quick dry type, avoid too bright/dark colours T-shirts. Cotton T-shirts avoid especially while walking. Full sleeves T-shirts are recommended.

Track Pants: As per your need, one synthetic quick dry type track pant is highly recommended.

Warm Jacket: Highly recommended one thick fleece jacket/ Down feather jacket is must to carry. You can use this when you cool down at camp.

Windproof Jacket/ Windcheater: We advise you to carry one as it resists wind chill/snowfall and quick burst of light rain.

Thermal Wear: You can use this once you reach the campsite. Thermal will keep your body warm especially during harsh winter temperatures.

Towel: One medium sized light weight towel quick dry type

Raincoat/ Poncho: Raincoats/ ponchos are water-resistant to protect the body from rain.

Woollen Cap / Balaclava: Mandatory to carry woollen cap or balaclava to protect from cold.

Sun cap / Hat: To protect you from direct sunlight

Undergarments: As per your need.

Socks: Hiking socks have the ability to wick moisture and keep feet dry. Full length socks are advisable.

Hand Gloves: Compulsory to carry, few gloves are constructed of water resistant or waterproof material that keep your fingers dry.

Walking stick / Trekking pole: Trekking pole provide useful literal stability on rough terrain and give balance while descending  while also reducing pressure on knee.

Water Bottle/ Hydration pack: Compulsory to carry, please do not carry packaged drinking water bottles.

Sunglasses: Compulsory to carry. It is protecting from snow blindness. Person who use spectacle need to carry custom make powered sunglasses.

Head Torch / Torch: It is mandatory to carry with extra batteries. Head torch is advisable to keep your hands free while walking.

Sunscreen Lotion: Optional, advisable to carry sunscreen lotion (SPF 50+ and more)

Chapstick/ Cold cream: Optional, as per your need

Toilet Kit: Must carry, Personal toilet kit (toilet paper)

Sandals / Slippers: Optional, to walk around camp

Small Lunch Box & Tea mug: Compulsory, sometimes we give pack lunch so you can carry pack lunch items in it (one small leak proof lunch box is the best one), also carry one tea mug/glass

Dry Fruits / Energy Bars: We provide healthy adequate food on trip. Some do feel very less energetic compared to others, so you carry energy bars, dry fruits etc.

Repairs Kit: Must, one small repair kit which includes safety pins, needle, thread and string

Personal Medical Kit: Must carry small basic first aid. If you are taking any specific medicine from your doctor please inform us in advance. There will be a basic first kit will be available throughout the trek. Our Instructor has done a first aid course.

Camera: Optional, to capture your lifetime memories.
