Day 1: Basecamp to Kodachadri via Hidlumane waterfalls

Early morning after reaching homestay we freshen up and have a nice breakfast, don't forget to carry your packed lunch from homestay.  After introduction round and briefing session your trek starts, initially, you will be following cart road for first 2km with trees lining up on both sides and providing pleasant shade, your actual trek starts when you take a right turn and cross a small water stream. Now you will be entering thick green forest area, you can hear birds chirping in the distance, colourful butterflies flying all around and mysterious beautiful silence makes everything easier. Suddenly you will come out on a small flat grassland and you can see a couple local houses here, start trekking through paddy field and the trail will connect to a forest route. You trek through the forest by climbing on steep gradual ascends through multiple water streams, after a while of ascending you will be pleasantly welcomed by mesmerizing Hidlumane waterfall. Water is shivering cold and you can bathe under it to cleanse yourself. This waterfall is just marvelous, falling from a height of almost 80 feet, ideal for a refreshing shower before you start one more steep climb. Trek during monsoon, the sky gets covered by clouds and uncertain misty rain.

After taking a refreshing dip in the waterfall, you trek further, from here your actual trek begins and you start gaining altitude. The scenery keeps changing as you gradually climb up. Finally, you reach the top where you will be have your packed lunch. From this point to the next point, the hill is along the mud filled jeep way, hiking over this trail is quite dusty and tiring because of the steep zig-zag route but it is an awesome and different experience. Finally this route ends near the temple, and you can see clouds below you summed up to a marvelous view. From here, the peak is just 1 km, at the top there is Shankara Peeta, which, apparently, was built by Shri Adi Shankara. From the top you will be amazed with mesmerizing beauty all around. After spending some time you start trekking back and you retrace the same jeep route till homestay. Night, if weather permits, you will be having a campfire and unlimited fun. Overnight stay in homestay.
