The view is charismatic, and the feel is out of the world. The perfect time to visit them is right after the monsoons when the falls are in full glory. Roaring waterfalls throwing an enormous blanket of mist all over the railway bridge and into the air which is an amazing experience.
The name "Dudhsagar" which literally means "Sea of Milk" is very appropriate for it. The high intensity of water flow gives an impression as if milk is falling from the top. The Waterfall is located in the Bhagwan Mahavir WildLife Sanctuary at Collem in South Goa along the western Ghats, bordering the neighbouring State of Karnataka.
The dirt track ride in the jeep through wheel deep water for a good 45 minutes through the forest (Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary) is a solid experience. There are atleast three streams you need to cross. Then we were off to the bumpy ride. The pool at the foot of the falls has icy cool water, safe if you know how to swim, but tread carefully on the rocks as the terrain is slippery. If you are lucky, you can see the Konkan railway train whistle its way over the bridge above. This place is heaven for adventure seekers.
