Bangalore is surrounded by so many beautiful places around it, Antargange being one of them, it is a massive hillock of volcanic boulders and rocks. Antharangange is just 60 kms from Bangalore and easy to reach. Situated near the 'Gold town' of Kolar, this beautiful place offers a unique opportunity to enjoy nature and get into serious exploration escapade. The trek to the temple is the easiest with stairs laid down. It has a small kund with a statue of Nandi from which spring water emerges out mysteriously. Near the temple you are greeted by numerous monkeys but do not be scared as they do not jump on you unless you have something in your hand.
Your real trek begins from the temple, on a trail carved on the rock faces. You pass through a moderately forested patch and then climb steeply to reach the caves on top. Stick to the path through the caves or you might get lost in the complex network of paths inside. Once you enter, there are all sorts of narrow passages and crevices to crawl through, involves squeezing yourselves through small gaps between rocks vertically, horizontally and sometimes crawling between narrow routes, it is a bit tough but quite an experience. Kids tend to love it. Inside the cave you feel very cool, moving in the dark inside a cave where you have no idea about the destination and a torch is your only friend.
On the other end of the cave, there is a beautiful view point where you can sit and admire the landscape for a while. Once you are outside the cave, you can spend some time on the flat meadows at the top. There are beautiful viewpoints which offer great view of the gold mining town of Kolar and the beautiful nature around.
